Oyster Perpetual Pink Dial 04/2024 ref.124200
NEW UNWORN | BOX | PAPERS | 04/2024
Rolex is defined by the iconic models in its catalog, yet at the same time it's a catalog of bread-and-butter, and no watch – sans maybe the iconic Datejust – better represents that ethos than the Oyster Perpetual (OP).
In late 2020, Rolex completely refreshed the Oyster Perpetual line, at the time unleashing an onslaught of new colors and sizes. Most notable were the pastel dial color which now composed the collection alongside a handful of more traditional options in blue, black, and silver. This new unworn ref. 124200 is the 34mm edition.
So what makes the OP so compelling? It starts with the Oyster case and bracelet made of Oystersteel with an Oysterclasp, plus three white gold hands with no date, applied white gold markers and coronet on the finely-executed dial, a Twinlock screw-down crown, and bright-glowing blue Chromalight. The watch also lacks some of Rolex's visual signatures, like a fluted bezel or a date window and the subsequent Cyclops, so it feels aesthetically refreshing against the stereotypical ideas of what a Rolex can and cannot be.
Inside the Oyster Perpetual is the automatic COSC-certified Rolex caliber 2232, which offers a 55-hour power reserve. It toes the line between the worlds of sporty, dressy, and playful, all the way unafraid to catch people's attention with its perfect proportions and subtle strength.
